Day 4: Bangkok: Day Excursion to Historic City of Ayutthaya
The historic city of Ayutthaya, about 1.5 hours from Bangkok by drive, is one of the most impressive ruined cities in Asia. Have a full-day journey back in time to the ancient Ayutthaya era today.
The old city of Ayutthaya, today's Ayutthaya Historical Park, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, as an excellent witness to the period of development of a true national Thai art. Though destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century, the remains, like Wat Maha That, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, and Viharn Phra Mongkolbopit, still give an idea of its past splendor.
En route to Ayutthaya, you will stop at the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, a site that was first used by the Thai kings as a summer retreat in the 17th century and built in different architectural styles, some of which are classical Thai, some of which are Chinese, and some of which are European designs.

Day 5: Bangkok: Exotic Markets Exploration & Dinner Cruise
The best way to get a feel for local life is to go to their markets. Your first stop, Mahachai Market, is one of the biggest seafood markets in Thailand. Besides all kinds of seafood, you can find other products, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Walk around with the tour guide and see the daily life of the local people.
Followed by is the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the few places now to experience a traditional Thai floating market. Wind along its maze of slender canals to the center area, where countless hawkers on overloaded boats peddle to guests standing on the land. Take time to cross the narrow road near the canal to find some good places to shoot these unique scenes. Try some food from the vendors on the boat. Most of them are delicious.
Return to Bangkok in the early evening and end today with a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River. While sailing past illuminated monuments, feast on a gourmet dinner of authentic Thai cuisine.
