About This Trip
This week-long itinerary will take you through the Northern Patagonia of Argentina and Chile. You'll see incredible paintings of more than 800 handprints in the Cave of Hands. Discover the Lago Posadas to see Arco de Piedra, Cerro de Los Indios, Cave of the Puma, and Garganta del Rio Oro. As you cross the border and enter Chile, you'll take in the beauty of Chacabuco Valley, Marble Caves, and Maqui River Waterfall. Back to Argentina, driving along the scenic Route 41, you'll reach the snowcapped Monte San Lorenzo. Before your tour ends, pay a visit to Provincial Reserve Caleta Olivia. There you can see sea lions and seabirds.

Day 1: Comodoro Rivadavia - Sarmiento - Los Antiguos
Welcome to Argentina! You will be greeted at Comodoro Rivadavia airport by your private driver-guide and transferred to Los Antiguos. On the way, stop to visit the Petrified Forest 30 km south to the town of Sarmiento. The petrified woods formed from primitive conifers and palm trees are scattered in different shapes. The total driving time is approximately 6.5h.

Day 2: Los Antiguos - Lago Posadas, Cave of Hands
It is a full day to discover the Cave of Hands (Cueva de las Manos).
You will reach by driving about 2h20min along Route 40. Lying in the deep canyon of the Pinturas River, the cave is renowned for the numerous rock paintings including handprints, vicugnas and abstract images in different colors. The paintings have been well preserved for thousands of years, some of which depict the life of ancient hunters. Afterward, head to the village of Lago Posadas for two overnight stays.

Day 3: Lago Posadas, Jurassic Environment Around Lago Posadas
It will be unforgettable to explore the Jurassic environment of Lago Posadas and Pueyrredon Lake. During the transfer, a short trek from Route 39 will take you to get a glimpse of the Arco de Piedra, a rock with a stone arch sitting in the Lake Posadas. Later, continue to visit Cerro de Los Indios, the Cave of the Puma, the multicolor lagoon, the isthmus between Pueyrredon Lake and Posadas Lake, and the Garganta del Rio Oro (Gorge of the Oro River).

Day 4: Lago Posadas - Puerto Bertrand, Patagonia National Park
Today, you will cross the border and enter Chile to travel into the Patagonia National Park, which features the greatest terrestrial biodiversity in this region. After driving through the Chacabuco Valley, connect Carretera Austral (Route 7) and trek for a while at the confluence of the Nef River and Chile's largest river - the Baker River. Finally, settle down at your accommodation in Puerto Bertrand, where you can enjoy the most unspoiled scenery of the southern area of the country.

Day 5: Puerto Bertrand - Los Antiguos, Marble Caves
This morning, drive along the lakeshore of General Carrera Lake and then join in a boat or kayak trip to explore the marble caves in Capilla de Marmol Nature Sanctuary. The geographic formations with unique and smooth texture inside were formed by seawater scouring for over 6000 years, some of which are known as Catedral de Marmol, Capilla de Marmol and Cavernas de Marmol.
After lunch, take in the stunning views of the highest peak in Patagonia on the way to the Maqui River Waterfall, where you could take small trekking. At dusk, re-enter Argentina and stay overnight at Los Antiguos.

Day 6: Los Antiguos, Route to Monte Zeballos
Spend the day visiting the region near Los Antiguos of Patagonia. Driving along the scenic Route 41, more famous as Road to Monte Zeballos, you will cross steppe, Andean forest, grassland, and high mountains. Later, reach the viewpoint towards the snowcapped Monte San Lorenzo (3706 meters). You will experience an authentic Patagonia by seeing condors, trekking between basaltic dikes and unique sandstone formations, contemplating the changing landscape and so on.

Day 7: Los Antiguos - Caleta Olivia - Comodoro Rivadavia
Your trip comes to an end. It normally takes 5.5h to Comodoro Rivadavia for your return flight. En route, make a stop at Provincial Reserve Caleta Olivia to see hundreds of sea lions and numbers of seabirds such as seagulls and cormorants.
