Malaysia: The "All-Rounder" Destination
- Travel Note on Malaysia 2023 Hi, Sunny here, your global travel expert from Odynovo! Imagine if I told you that there is a destination that caters to a variety of interests in one tour. A place that offers cultural diversity in vibrant cities, picturesque islands and beaches, fantastic cuisine, and lush rainforests teeming with free wildlife... On my latest FAM trip to Malaysia, I found it is such a country, and I can’t wait to share my experiences with you!
1. Diverse Fusion Cuisine
My favorite part! Malaysian cuisine incorporates cross-cultural influences from China, India, Thailand, and Arab countries. Every day, I was excited about my food adventure, wondering where my next meal would come from. Nasi lemak, a national dish consisting of rice soaked in thick coconut milk and served with sliced cucumbers, anchovies, roasted peanuts, fried water spinach, Indian and spicy sauce (Sambal), hit me the hardest.
2. A Variety of Rare Wildlife
Borneo in East Malaysia boasts a million-year-old rainforest that is home to hundreds of wildlife species. I encountered Orangutans, Pygmy Elephants, Proboscis Monkeys, Bornean Sun Bears, Sunda Clouded Leopards, Rhinoceros Hornbills, and more in Borneo's incredible biodiversity. When I look into the eyes of these magical creatures, I have an indescribable feeling that I am part of this beautiful natural world.
3. Tropical Island Scenery
I took this beautiful sunset photo in Langkawi without any editing at all. Who can refuse a vacation on a tropical island like this? With 99 islands, Langkawi offers tons to see and do, from its stunning beaches to its glorious waterfalls. Although I enjoy thrilling water sports, I prefer to take a walk on a secluded beach with soft, white sand, swim in the shallow blue water, and bask in the sunshine.
4. Multi-Ethnic Culture
Malaysia is a multicultural country where different ethnicities, religions, languages, and cultures coexist together. In Kuala Lumpur, I marveled at Islamic-style palaces, Hindu Batu Caves, and the modern Petronas Twin Towers. Penang made me feel like I was in China, while the colonial architecture in Malacca drew me into a Portuguese, Dutch, and British vibe. Malaysia is like a gigantic cultural museum that is awe-inspiring.
