Welcome to Tokyo, where golden ginkgo and red maple colors bring more energy to the city. Upon arrival, meet your private driver for a smooth transfer to your hotel. After check-in, rest or explore Tokyo's vibrant streets at your own pace.

Begin the day at Meiji Jingu. Here, you'll observe traditional prayer rituals and, if fortunate, a traditional Shinto wedding procession in this tranquil forest shrine.
Continue to Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo's oldest temple with deep ties to Edo-period culture. Walk through incense smoke with worshippers, pass under the iconic Kaminarimon Gate with its giant red lantern, and explore the lively Nakamise Street before reaching the main hall.
Afterward, see the classic autumn beauty of Japan at Rikugien Garden. Stroll along stone paths and wooden bridges designed for feudal lords, while capturing the tranquil harmony of maple trees, garden hills, and water reflections around the central pond.

Enjoy a day of personal discovery of Tokyo at your own pace. You can explore its neighborhoods as a day trip from Tokyo, or simply wander the shopping districts for relaxation.
For more immersive natural experiences, an optional full-day excursion to Chichibu offers a peaceful escape. During your autumn trip to Japan, its quiet valleys, forested hills, mountain trails, and riverside landscapes are all covered in shades of red, orange, and gold, which only takes about 90 to 120 minutes of journey to capture all this scenery from Tokyo.

Your Japan autumn leaves journey continues in the Kawaguchiko area, one of the best places to view Mount Fuji.
Depart Tokyo and drive about 2 hours to the Arakurayama Sengen Park, ascending to the Chureito Pagoda observation deck for panoramic views of Mount Fuji framed by a five-story pagoda, as well as those fiery branches surrounding it.
Later, hop on a cruise on Lake Kawaguchi for a different perspective of Mount Fuji from the water. End today's viewing at Oishi Park, where red kochia and seasonal foliage set against the iconic backdrop of this sacred mountain.
After the tour, transfer to Hakone and check in at your onsen hotel.

Travel independently to Odawara Station for your Shinkansen toward Nagoya, and then transfer to an express train bound for Takayama.
The journey takes approximately 4 hours in total, passing through changing landscapes from coastal plains to mountainous inland regions.
Upon arrival in the well-preserved historic town of Takayama, make your own way to the hotel within walking distance of the station. The rest of the day is at leisure to rest or explore the surrounding Japanese Alps area.

Wake up to the riverside Takayama Morning Market and experience authentic everyday life in rural Japan through fresh produce, handmade goods, and seasonal specialties made by local vendors.
Move on to the beautifully preserved Sannomachi Old Town, with traditional wooden townhouses you may want to drop by. Step inside a cafe for rest, try hands-on craft experiences, or visit one of the sake breweries for a fresh taste of local rice wine (at your own expense).
As for the afternoon, make the Takayama Matsuri Yatai Kaikan your destination to capture those elaborately decorated festival floats from the famous Takayama Matsuri. And nearby is the Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the main venue of the Takayama Festival, ideal for a deeper insight into its religious and cultural significance.

Today is dedicated to Shirakawago, an iconic gassho-zukuri farmhouse village set in a quiet mountain valley.
Walk into the best-preserved Wada House, see its traditional irori hearth and upper-level spaces once used for silk farming, while listening to the story and insights shared by your private guide. Continue to the Shirakawa-go Observation Deck, one of the best spots for panoramic views of the tranquil village, well-framed by mountain slopes and autumn foliage.
Before departing for Kanazawa, enjoy some free time to stroll through the village at your own pace, take photos, or explore the quiet streets independently.

Bathed in the soft autumn morning light, the day begins at Kenroku-en Garden, one of Japan's most celebrated landscape gardens.
Maple leaves complement ponds, bridges, and traditional lanterns in a perfectly balanced Edo-style composition. Just next to the garden stands Kanazawa Castle, the reconstructed former seat of the powerful Maeda clan, which houses the pretty Gyokuseninmaru Garden for your linger.
At midday, enjoy free time for lunch at Omicho Market, where you can sample fresh seafood bowls, sushi, and local delicacies at your own pace.
Stroll through the Nagamachi Samurai District in the afternoon, and visit Nomura-ke Samurai Residence as another way to take a glimpse into the lifestyle of Japan's warrior class.

After breakfast, follow another comfortable Shinkansen experience as you travel from Kanazawa to Kyoto.
Upon arrival, proceed to your hotel on your own for check-in. After some time to refresh, head independently to the Gion, Kyoto's historic geisha quarter. In this preserved wooden district with the best traditional atmosphere, dress in an elegant kimono and join a shared traditional tea ceremony, experience Japan's centuries-old cultural rituals in a more impressive way.

Step inside the world of Japan's shoguns at Nijo Castle. Inside the former residence of the Tokugawa shogunate, walk on the famous "nightingale floors" designed to chirp under footsteps as a security measure, while capturing the dramatic contrast between the colorful garden and the black walls.

Today, escape to the scenic Arashiyama district as one of the Japan autumn trip highlights.
Stroll through the Sagano Bamboo Grove, surrounded by towering bamboo that sway gently in the breeze. Then enjoy a quiet break at Okochi Sanso Garden, a beautifully maintained hillside villa offering panoramic views over Kyoto's temples, wooden buildings, and the surrounding mountains in red and gold.
