Day 5: Cafayate - Salta, Wine Tasting
The highlight of today is to taste "Torrontes", one of Argentina's top wines. Cafayate's large day-and-night temperature difference and sparse precipitation help Torrontes accumulate enough acidity and aroma; the mountain ice-snow melt runoff adds a unique flavor to it. Compared to wines from other regions, Cafayate's Torrontes are more intense, forming a unique style.
On the way back to Salta, you will pass through the Las Conchas Valley. The rocks here were naturally carved into strange shapes by wind and water erosion, such as the Amphitheatre, Devil's Throat, the Toad, the Castle, and others.
